The Criollo cattle of Bolivia consists of four varieties:
• Chaqueño - beef breed; located in the dry forests of the southeast (in the departments of Chuquisaca and Santa Cruz)
• Chusco (Bolivian Altiplano Criollo) - beef breed; located on the Altiplano plateau in the west (in the department of La Paz)
• Saavedreño - milk breed; located in the tropical lowlands in the east (also in the department of Santa Cruz)
• Yacumeño - primarily a beef breed; located in the seasonal flood plain in the north (in the department of El Beni)
