(local/other name)
(most common name):
• Carora
(local/other name):
• Caroreña
The Tipo Carora was developed as a dairy breed. Local Criollo cattle (known as Amarillo de Quebrada Arriba) were inseminated with Brown Swiss semen starting in the 1930s.
The Tipo Carora coat color is greyish white to a light fawn with darker shading on the head and feet. The breed also has black skin, mucosae and hoofs.
Over 90% of Tipo Carora have coat hairs that are short and glossy which contributes to heat tolerance. Heterozygous bulls are culled.
