Sardinian
(local/other name)
(most common name)
(transboundary/brand name):
• Sarda
The Sardinian is found on the island of Sardinia — an autonomous region of Italy.
The Sardinian originally had the same coloration as the European aurochs and was one of the breeds used by Lutz Heck in his efforts to reconstruct the Europeana aurochs. His brother, Heinz Heck, also endeavored to recreate the European auroch.
Their combined efforts are today known as Heck cattle.
