Information on whether any purebred Criollo cattle survive in El Salvador today is dificult to find if that information even extsts.
However, a 1985 report (Reaves et al., 1985) stated:
• local Criollo cows yielded 2,083 kg of milk with a first calving at 32.4 months
• mestiza cows (indigenous cattle of mixed and nondescript origin) yielded 2,429 kg of milk with a first calving at 33.5 months
• Guernsey cows yielded 2,737 kg of milk with a first calving at 37.6 months
(Spanish) mestiza = mixed
