Rupununi Criollo
(most common name)
The Rupununi Criollo is found on the semi-arid savannah land of the Dadanawa Ranch in the Rupununi region (which is located in southwest Guyana and borders on the Brazilian Amazon).
The Rupununi Criollo descends from imported Brazilian zebu/Hereford crosses. Santa Gertrudis, Brahman and Charolais were later added into its genetic mixture. It usually leans towards zebu in appearance.
The Rupununi Criollo is really a type of cattle, not a singular breed, and is raised for beef and work.
The Rupununi Criollo is also supposedly very tick resistant.
