The Länsisuomenkarja is believed to have ancestors that may have arrived in West Finland via Vikings or Finns from the south. Most are now naturally polled due to selection. Before this, they were often dehorned to avoid safety hazards posed by keeping horned cattle indoors during winter.

• North Finncattle
• East Finncattle
