local/other name (French):
• Cambodgien

The Cambodian is a zebu breed that is either a local type or a cross with the Hariana (which was introduced from India in 1956). Some Brahman, introduced from the Philippines in 1985, and their crossbreds are also present.

The Cambodian local type is the same in the uplands and lowlands and is used primarily for work, particularly in rice cultivation.

The Cambodian males, castrated at the age of 18 months to 2 years, are trained for draught starting at 3 years of age. Cows, most of which are not milked or used for work, are kept for breeding and manure production.
