Australian Braford
(historical breed name)
(most common name)
(transboundary/brand name):
• Braford
The Australian Braford was developed by Adam Rea who began transforming his herd of Herefords by crossing with Brahmans in 1946. He did this to combat a tick infestation in his Herefords.
Besides being more tick resistant, Rea’s breeding aim included high fertility and excellent conformation. Twenty years later he finally ended up with Brahman (1/2) × Hereford (1/2).
