Numbers 09 - formula bar

Sheets Pane

• Located on the left under the Format Bar.
• Displays miniatures of the sheets and tables you have created in Numbers.
• You can re-name your sheets and tables here.

Styles Pane

• Located on the left under the Sheets Pane.
• Contains pre-designed styles for the current template in use. (Click on them to see how they change your active table.)

Calculations

• Below the various styles are active calculation values for whichever contiguous cells you have selected in your active table.
• You can also Command-Click various non-contiguous cells to get their combined calculations. (Contiguous means “sharing a common border; touching”.)
• You can also Click-Hold-Drag any of the the SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX and COUNT calculation results to an empty cell on a table. (If the value of any cell selected for your calculation result changes – the calculation result will automatically update.)

Canvas

• Your active sheet is displayed here.
• At the bottom is the Status Bar which controls zoom level and has a print preview button.

Why is it called a sheet and not a page? Because a page is something you print and will have limitations in size. A sheet may possibly never be printed and can be enormous in size.

Navigation

Go to Window to jump from spreadsheet to spreadsheet.
