The Svensk låglandsboskap is the result of the importation of Dutch Friesian and German East Friesian cattle into Sweden beginning in 1860.

The most common English name for the Svensk låglandsboskap used to be ‘Swedish Friesian’ — it is now Swedish Holstein because over 90% of the genes of breeding cows have been Holstein since 2005.

In 2008, only 100 purebred Swedish Friesian were left and only frozen semen is available.

(Swedish) Svensk låglandsboskap = Swedish lowland livestock
