The Shuwa is basically a zebu breed that was brought to the area of Chad, northeastern Nigeria and northern Cameroon by migrant Shuwa Arabs.
The Shuwa evolved from these cattle and is classified as a West African Shorthorned Zebu.
The three main varieties of Shuwa cattle are:
• Toupouri
• Kilara
• Fellata
