The Sardo Negro originates primarily from Gir zebus imported from Brazil into the state of Veracruz in Mexico during the 1930s.
Sardo Negro development emphasized a coat color of white with black spots on the body and a dark head, ears and lower limbs. Red and white can also occasionally be seen.
The Sardo Negro, a dual-purpose beef/dairy breed, has been registered in Mexico since 1978 and is known for high fertility.
