The Red Polled Eastland was developed during the 1880s using local cattle in southeast Norway (mainly from Østfold and Akershus) graded with:
• Angeln
• Ayrshire
• Friesian
The Red Polled Eastland was recognized as a breed in 1892. Coat coloring is solid red; some have white markings, particularly on the head.
