The Malawi Zebu is a type of Angoni and belongs to the Small East African Zebu cattle group.

The Malawi Zebu is compact with a large hump and usually has a coat of black or red, and pied (occasionally).

The Malawi Zebu was formerly divided into two varieties:
• North Malawi Zebu (Nyasa Angoni)
• South Malawi Zebu (Nyasa Zebu)

Angoni cattle are found in Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique and are separated from the main group of Small East African Zebu cattle by a belt of tsetse-infested land.
