The Lithuanian Red carries genes from at least 13 other breeds. Admixtures include:
• Ayrshire
• Polish Red
• Belarus Red
• Red Holstein
• Brown Swiss
The Lithuanian Red breed society was founded in 1924. Coat color ranges from:
• cherry red to red-brown
• a lighter colored back (sometimes)
• a white muzzle ring (sometimes)
• a white underbelly and udder (sometimes)
