Jochberg Hummel -cow and calf- Austria

Jochberg Hummel
(most common name in English)

(most common name):
Jochberger Hummeln
(local/other name):
• Pinzgau polled
• Polled Jochberg

The Jochberg Hummel is a polled strain of the Pinzgauer breed that originated in the village of Jochberg in Salzburg. The lack of horns make them hard to harness and yoke for work.

Because the Jochberg Hummel was integrated into the Pinzgauer herdbook in 1997 and since 2002 has been part of a conservation program for other polled Pinzgau cattle — it is no longer considered a separate breed.

(German) hummel = polled
