The Jamaica Hope was developed with the idea of creating a high yield milk cow that could withstand the heat of Jamaica.
The Jamaica Hope, developed between 1920–1952 at Hope Stock Farm (Kingston), is a composite dairy breed consisting of:
• Jersey (80%) × zebu (15%; mainly one black Sahiwal ♂︎)
• Dutch Friesian blood (5%)
The Jamaica Hope has a coat consisting of shades of fawn (usually), solid or broken.
