Hallikar

The Hallikar is a Mysore Zebu breed used primarily for work and cart racing. It is also the foundation breed that was used for the development of the Amritmahal.
The Hallikar can be found in Karnataka state in the districts of:
• Bangalore
• Chitradurga
• Hassan
• Kolar
• Mysore
• Mandya
• Tumkur
Mysore Zebu cattle, in contrast with other Indo-Pakistani zebu breeds, have:
• a tight body skin overall
• a smaller dewlap
• a tight sheath on the males
• a tight navel fold on the females
