The Hainan High-hump is a South China Zebu type found in the southern tip of China on Hainan Island (the major island of the Hainan Province) and in the autonomous region of Guangxi. Hainan Island (also known as Qiong) is positioned south of the Qiongzhou Strait which separates the island from Leizhou Peninsula and the Chinese mainland.
Since 1982, the Hainan High-hump and the Leizhou have been combined to be simply ‘Hainan’. The Hainan is considered a variety the Leiqiong.
