Today, the Frisona is the main dairy cattle in Spain although their numbers are declining. Their management system is considered to be intensive with the feeding of adults to include agro-industrial by-products, concentrate, and fodder.
The Frisona can be found mainly in Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria, Castile, Leon, and in peri-urban areas (i.e. areas located immediately adjacent to a city or urban area).
