The Fjällnära boskap can be found in the northern part of Sweden, has the same origin as the Swedish Mountain, and can be genetically traced from six populations.

The three original populations are:
• Lillhärjeåbygget
• Klövsjö
• Biellojaure

The Fjällnära boskap is well adapted to scarce pasture.
