(local/other name)
(most common name):
• Droimfhionn (Gaelic)
(historical breed name):
• Drimmon
The Droimeann is colorsided and considered to be an authentic color variety of the Kerry. Previously the breed was considered as possibly a Longhorn descendant or a cross of the Kerry and the Irish Moiled.
A Droimeann named ‘Big Bertha’— whose owner called her ‘a Drimmon cow’— is in the Guinness Book of World Records for reaching the age of 48 years and eight months and birthing 39 calves!
The Droimeann was thought to be extinct starting in the 1990s however animals were found and in 2007 a new breed society was formed.
