The oldest Red Pied Breeding Association (Rotbuntzuchtverband) was founded in 1875.

The current Doppelnutzung Rotbunt is restricted to up to 25% Red Holstein blood in order to preserve the traditional fattening and adaptability traits of the ‘old’ dual-purpose German Red Pied breed.
