The Deoni is a draught breed and similar to the Gir.
The Deoni is originally from western India and can be found in:
• Latur, Parbhani, Nanded and Osmanabad districts (Maharashtra state)
• Bidar district (Karnataka state)
• Medak district (Andhra Pradesh state)
The Deoni has 3 coat variants:
• Balankya - white with black spots on the lower side of the body
• Shevera (or Waghya) - white with irregular black spots
• Wannera - white with black color at the sides of the face
A Deoni Breeders’ Association has been established in Udgir, Latur District.
