Denmark has the largest Jersey population in Europe; the Danish Jersey produces milk with an average fat content of 6% and its population accounts for 13% of Danish dairy cows.
• 1896–1909 - 5,200 Jersey cattle imported into Denmark, after which selective breeding with American Jersey began
• 1999– 2003 - 383,414 Jersey calves registered; 60 young bulls progeny tested
Genetically, 35% of the Danish Jersey is American Jersey admixture; they are also larger and more resilient than the Jersey of the Channel Islands.
