Criollo Poblano
(most common name)
The Criollo Poblano is a subtype of Mexican Criollo that is found in La Mixteca — a region in western Oaxaca and neighboring portions of the states Puebla and Guerrero.
The Mixtecs are indigenous Mesoamerican peoples of Mexico. Mesoamerica is a historical region that extends from approximately central Mexico through Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and northern Costa Rica.
The Criollo Poblano, more often than not, is kept by small farmers in fairly isolated areas.
