Australian Jersey
(local/other name)
(most common name)
(transboundary/brand name):
• Jersey
The Jersey Herdbook Society was established in 1908 in Australia. The breed never became that popular, whereas in New Zealand the Jersey became very marketable for a time (however there are no current population figures).
In Australia, the Jersey was used to develop the Australian Milking Zebu, a well-adapted tropical dairy cattle composite.
