The Polska czarno-biała (ZB) originates from Dutch Mennonites bringing their cattle and settling in Northeastern Poland during the 17th century.

Later, Dutch and German cattle were imported in large numbers starting in the 19th century. Today, dairy cattle make up 96% of the cattle population in Poland.

Poland has no tradition of purebred beef production and there is no specific native beef breed. There is a relatively small population of imported beef cattle. So, beef is mainly produced from the dairy herd. 25% of inseminations are made primarily by:
Charolais
Limousin
Simmental
