Bohai Black -bull- China

Bohai Black
渤海黑牛
(most common name)

(local/other name):
• Wudi Black

The Bohai Black is a black-coated Chinese breed (with a black muzzle and hoofs) and is found in the central northwest region of Shandong province.

The Bohai Black, though generally used as a working breed, is also excellent for tender beef. However, numbers are dwindling due to shifts in the Chinese cattle industry away from the use of draught animals and towards dairying, and fattening beef cattle (rather than breeding them).

A conservation project was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2000 and steps have been taken to characterize and conserve the Bohai Black by the local government of the city of Binzhou, in Shandong.
