The Milking Devon (aka Red Devon) of the United States today began with Devon cattle that were imported consistently from England from 1800-1851.
Although Edward Winslow did import purebred Devon cattle from England in 1623 for the Plymouth colony in Massachusetts - these initial Devons were most likely absorbed into a mix of native North American cattle during that time.
