The Old Gloucester (aka Gloucester, Gloucestershire, Old Gloucestershire) was, at one point, 'improved' using the Shorthorn and the Friesian (amongst other breeds).

This, and a lack of interest over time, almost finished the breed - until the Rare Breeds Survival Trust took over for their protection and continuation.
