Float, Scale and Rotate
Cheat Sheet 20091007

Seashore is a bitmap image editor. The program is free and open source. If the program is not coöperating, save your work and restart it.

To float, scale and rotate selections quickly, do the following:

1. From the Toolbox choose Rectangular Select or Elliptical Select (both use the shortcut key M).

2. Make a selection (see below):

3. Now float your selection using Command-F (your selection will turn grey - see below):

4. The Position tool will appear and you can click and drag your floating selection (see below):

(If you want to keep it floating, check Do not anchor floating section in the Options panel.)

5. If you hold down Shift while clicking, your selection will be outlined and you can scale your selection up and down while dragging your mouse (see below):

6. If you hold down Control while clicking, a pentagon will appear over your selection and you can rotate your selection while dragging your mouse (see below):
