Photoshop CS4:
Screen Modes
Cheat Sheet 20090116

F toggles you between:

  • Full Image with Rulers
  • Full Image with Top Menu, side Panels and Toolbar
  • Standard Set-up

Shift-F also takes you to Full Screen Mode with Rulers.

Shift-Tab toggles your right Panels on and off.

The Screen Mode Button is in the upper Application Menu Bar (see below):

The Screen Mode Button gives you three options (see below):

Photoshop CS4 Screen Mode Button Options

  1. Standard Screen Mode allows you to see the Tabs and Scroll Bars of your open Image files.
  2. Full Screen With Menu Bar hides the Tabs and Scroll Bars of your open Images.
  3. Full Screen Mode wipes out everything except your Image and Rulers.

Full Screen Mode also gives you an Alert Message (until you turn it off) that tells you that your Panels can accessed by pressing Tab and you can return to Standard Screen Mode by pressing F or Esc (see below):

When in Full Screen Mode:

  • Tab toggles you between Full Image and Full Image with Top Menu and Panels.
  • Command-Tilde (⌘~) cycles you between Images.
  • You can still work inside the Image if you know your Keyboard Shortcuts.
  • You can return to Standard Screen Mode by pressing F or Esc.
