GENERAL INFO
- When in doubt, try Shift or Option when clicking and see what happens.
- The pasteboard/canvas is the background that the artboards sit on and can hold all sorts of things (i.e. instructions, bits of type, yesterday’s comics - think of it as your drafting table in a digital form).
- When you go to print you have to tell the printer which artboard(s) to print.
- In Adobe Bridge - drag something into Preview to see it and NOT change its current location on your hard drive.
- Actual Size means 100% size - NOT print size.
PROBLEMS
Artwork is moving with an artboard:
- The Move/Copy Artwork button is turned on and you need to turn it off (see below):

Re-positioning artboard warnings:
- Object falling completely off the drawing area - go to View - Guides - Clear Guides and see if that solves the problem.
- Spot colors are used with transparency - click Continue.
Adobe Bridge opens your files in the wrong version of your software:
- Go to Adobe Bridge CS4 - Preferences - File Type Associations and change the default version of whatever you need to change.
Can’t figure out where everything is on your pasteboard/canvas?
Line through your Tool and you can’t use it:
- The layer you’re trying to use it on is hidden - go to Window - Layers (F7) and make it visible by clicking so the eyeball appears next to it.
