Rather than writing small with the mouse, you can easily shrink your dialog. 1. Write out your dialog nice and big (see below):
2. Use Command-A to select it (see below):
3. Shrink it down (see below):
4. Then, if you want one, draw a bubble around it (see below):
5. Now you can add your character (see below):
